Istanbul successfully hosted ECM Summer School

Istanbul successfully hosted the 27th edition of European Cities Marketing (ECM) Summer School between 24 and 28 August 2013 at Mövenpick Hotel Istanbul.

ecm-ist13ECM Summer School brought students face to face with leading industry practitioners, through a seminar that reflected the latest trends; new technologies and practices.

The ECM Summer School curriculum is tailor-made to cover all sectors of the conference industry (convention bureaux, tourist offices, congress and convention centres, hotels, airlines, DMCs, PCOs and Meeting Planners). The faculty consists of top industry experts who share their collective knowledge and experiences about trends in the marketplace, about the structure of the convention business, and above all about how to win business and pursue a successful career in one of the most dynamic and commercial sectors of the tourist industry.

On the first day of the summer school, Heike Mahmoud, Vice-president, ECM gave a speech about the Introduction to European Cities Marketing. Elif Balci Fisunoglu, General Manager, Istanbul Convention & Visitors Bureau made a welcoming speech and introduced the convention destination Istanbul, including structure and marketing activities of the convention bureau. Pier Paolo Mariotti, Course Director made the introduction of the course programme, scene setting and round of introductions for students and Faculty. At Skyline Lounge in Mövenpick Hotel, ECM held a welcome reception and cocktail on the night of the first day.
