By the end of September this year 28.36 million foreign visitors had arrived in Turkey – an impressive increase of 10.09% compared to the same period in 2012.
Arrivals from Turkey’s 3rd biggest market for arrivals; UK counted as 2.46 million that spent a total of £654 million while holidaying here. By the end of September 2013, Turkey had attracted 2.12 million British visitors, an increase of 2.04% for the same period the previous year.
Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Omer Celik who visited Turkey stand on Monday at WTM 2013 said that Not only Turkey's sea, sand, geography, summer and sun but also its foreign policy, democracy and being an attraction centre in its region, having a strong democracy, all these are Turkey's assets.
Suat Tore asked Mr. Celik why Turkey is organizing press conference in stand while other countries such as neighbor country; Greece organizing conference at a meeting room with over 400 journalists participation, Celik answered it with their new tourism strategy and instruments they have started using. Celik explained that this year special commission teams were set up which visited Germany, Russia and the UK at first, then headed to the Gulf. “These teams went to have meetings with their counterparts periodically over the year and completed this presentation. The British market is one of the three markets for us anyways. Our participation in such fairs is something which will strengthen that. However, these will not be only limited with fairs, or with classic ministry introductions. After this, we will develop new strategies to strengthen these introduction facilities periodically.
