Izmir European Jazz Festival kicks off today

The 22nd Izmir European Jazz Festival organized by the Izmir Foundation for Culture Arts and Education (IKSEV) kicks off today March 5 and will run until March 21. This year’s festival will begin with Jazz Meets Classic, World Premiere of “Taksim”, performed by Ufuk-Bahar Dördüncü Duo & Erik Truffaz Quartet at AASSM Concert Hall; starting at 8.30 pm.

At AASSM Small Hall,

On March 6, Paolo Di Sabatino Trio will perform at 8.30pm

On March 9, Open Jazz Orchestra Final at 8.30pm

On March 12, KhalifeSchumacherTristano at 8.30pm

On March 16, Mario Rom's Interzone at 8.30pm

On March 19, Hanka Gregusova & Ondrej Krajnak Duo at 8.30pm

On March 21, WHO Trio at 8.30pm

Mateusz Smoczynski Quintet will perfomr at AASSM Concert Hall on March 14.

From 5 to 21 March AASSM Foyer will host the 13th "Jazz Festival Poster Competition" exhibition.

From March 4 to 14, "Glamour of Jazz by Aykut Uslutekin" photography exhibition can be visited at 1462 Contemporary Art Gallery located at 1462 sk. no. 43/A Alsancak, Izmir.

On March 7, Cine-Jazz Marathon presented by Francesco Martinelli at French Cultural Center at 8.30pm. Admission is free, the films will be shown in their original languages

On March 7 from 1pm to 9 pm, Meksika street in Alsancak will host Rendezvous: Fashion, Design and Jazz

On 7 and 8 March, Jazzine - Fanzine Production Workshop with Içerik Dergi will be organized at IKSEV. This is an exclusive workshop for graphic design students.

On 7-8-9 March, IKSEV Hall will host an Open Jazz Orchestra workshop with Paolo Di Sabatino Trio.

On March 11 at 7pm, there is a free seminar on "Jazz & Classical Music: Seperated Siamese Twins?" at IKSEV. Jazz Historian Francesco Martinelli is the speaker of the seminar.

Mateusz Smoczynski Quintet Workshop is on March 14 between 11 am and 1 pm at IKSEV.

Mid-Day Coffee Break with Jazz is on March 14 from 2pm to 3pm at Panda Müzik 1381 sokak (Italy sokak - str.) 21/A Alsancak.

Open Foyer Concerts on 14 March between 5pm and 7.30pm at AASSM Entrance Foyer hosts Yaşar University Jazz Quartet and Yavuz Darıdere Hammond Groove Band. Admission free.

On March 19 between 11 am and 1 pm Hanka Gregusova and Ondrej Krajnak Duo workshop will be held at IKSEV; an exclusive workshop for musicians

On March 20, MUZIKSEV hosts a free admission documentary titled "Jazz in Turkey". It is a conversation with director Batu Akyol and radio programmer Ümit Tunçağ.
