Jet2.com Celebrates First Flight to Izmir, Turkey

Jet2.com yesterday (May 1, 2019) launched flights to Izmir, Turkey; marking the official start of flights and holidays to this brand new destination.

Customers on the morning’s Manchester to Izmir flight were given a special celebration of treats, refreshments, and one lucky customer, Tony Hembrow from Crewe, even won a pair of return Jet2.com flights after finding a lucky golden envelope under his seat, before departing to the Turkish sunshine.

The full flight marks the start of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays operating flights and holidays to the region, which is already proving to be extremely popular with holidaymakers looking for exceptional weather, great value, and fabulous cuisine with beautiful beaches and the Dilek National Park within easy reach. Izmir provides access to popular family friendly resorts on the west coast of Turkey such as Kusadasi, Cesme, Ozdere and Seferihisar making it the perfect combination of sunshine and culture for holidaymakers to enjoy.

The carrier will be launching flights to Izmir from five more of our nine UK bases this week, with first flights departing from both London Stansted and Glasgow on  May 2nd), Newcastle (May 3rd), and both Birmingham and Leeds Bradford (May 8th).

In total, the carrier will operate eight weekly flights to Izmir from across these bases this summer, meaning over 80,000 seats are on sale in the first summer of operations. Izmir is the carrier’s fourth destination in Turkey, on top of existing routes to Antalya, Bodrum and Dalaman.

The launch of flights and holidays to Izmir comes as the carrier kick off its biggest ever summer programme, with 59 destinations on sale and fleet of 100 aircraft helping provide more flights, and thus more choice and flexibility for holidaymakers.
