Turkish lira hits the lowest point this year; the lira on Thursday plummeted to as low as 6.19 to the dollar. The depreciation of the lira increases the country’s attractiveness for foreign tourists.

The World Travel & Tourism Council – WTTC’s latest 2018 Europe City Travel & Tourism Impact report has ranked Istanbul at the top for international spend in Europe. Istanbul ranked 8th globally, accumulating US$ 16.3 billion in visitor exports, ahead of other popular European destinations such as London, Paris, Barcelona, and Amsterdam.
