The number of passengers served by Türkiye's airports in 2022 soared 42.1% from the previous year to 182.3 million.
Adil Karaismailoglu, transport and infrastructure minister of Türkiye, announced that total air traffic in Türkiye jumped 28.4% to 1.88 million aircraft on a yearly basis in 2022.
Total aircraft traffic climbed 18.6% year-on-year in December 2022, reaching 144,578, including overflights, while the total number of air passengers last month, including transit passengers, was 12.88 million, he underlined.
Aircraft traffic in Türkiye's Istanbul Airport was 37,436 in December, and the number of passengers was 5.4 million, he added.
Istanbul Airport served a total of 64 million 486 thousand passengers, 15 million 894 thousand on domestic flights and 48 million 592 thousand on international flights.
At Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, there was a total of 30 million 770 thousand passenger traffic, including 15 million 218 thousand on domestic lines and 15 million 551 thousand on international lines.
Last year, Istanbul Airports served a total of 95 million 256 thousand passengers.
Antalya Airport served to a total of 31 million 210 thousand passenger traffic, 6 million 79 on domestic and 25 million 131 thousand on international lines.
"We hosted 9 million 837 thousand passengers at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport and 4 million 622 thousand passengers at Muğla Dalaman Airport. We served 3 million 904 thousand passengers at Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport and 705 thousand 440 passengers at Gazipaşa Alanya Airport," added Karaismailoglu.
The Passenger traffic increased 14.9 percent on domestic lines and 73 percent on international flights compared to 2021. The increase in total passenger traffic was 42.1 percent compared to the previous year.
Last year, Istanbul Airport had a total of 425,897 aircraft traffic, of which 109,634 were on domestic flights and 316,263 were on international flights.
