Nicola Lomas will take up the position with immediate effect and move into the Chairman's role for a further two years in January 2012 as Jamie Hindhaugh, the existing ITM Chairman, moves to the immediate Past-Chair position to concentrate on the BBC's production for the Olympics and other 2012 activity.
Ms Lomas, having originally worked in supplier roles for American Express and American Airlines moved to a buyer role at Omnicom, a global leader in marketing and advertising communications, in 2008.
Speaking about her appointment, Ms. Lomas said, "ITM is a wonderful organisation which has grown in stature over the years thanks to a succession of talented and driven Chairmen. Being appointed is a real honour for me and a chance to give something back to the industry. I plan to support Jamie and help to take all the good work that's been done so far and consolidate it to ensure ITM members can continue to demonstrate the value of their roles to their businesses."
Continuing the theme of buyer & supplier partnerships, the development of industry qualifications and understanding the role of the ITM regions will be the focus of her tenure from 2012, Ms. Lomas advised, as well as helping buyers to sell the value of managed travel to their stakeholders such as business units and the travellers themselves.Jamie Hindhaugh, ITM Chairman and BBC Head Of Production L2012 and Head of Sourcing, Logistics talked about the attributes which made Ms Lomas an obvious choice, "Nicola is a very professional, educated and driven individual. She is also someone who knows this industry well. It is clear that she has found the benefits of association participation invaluable to her development over the years and is well placed to help us create a stronger ITM for our existing and future members. She will be warmly welcomed by all of us at ITM."
