A symbol of Dubai’s growing importance at the centre of the global business crossroads, the 1,608-room JW Marriott Marquis Dubai will open in two phases with the first section featuring 804 rooms and a number of world class restaurants, lounges and entertainment venues. In addition to serving the luxury business traveller, the hotel is targeting the lucrative and increasingly important MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) market, which currently does not have a hotel of sufficient scale to host such large groups.

Rupprecht Queitsch, a German national who has been working for Marriott globally since 1986, has had extensive experience in hospitality and will lead the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai’s world-class team as General Manager.

Working as Hotel Manager and supporting Rupprecht, Bill Keffer will oversee operations which include Rooms, Food & Beverage, Engineering, Spa, Loss Prevention and IT. With almost twenty years of service within the Marriott International network, Keffer brings with him a wealth of experience as well as numerous accolades, including Continent General Manager of the Year at Marriott International’s 2011 MEA Full Service General Manager Awards for his role at the Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites.

Food and Beverage

Supporting Bill’s team will be Anthony Tuttle, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai’s new Director of Food and Beverage. Anthony brings with him just under 25 years of Marriott experience after he joined the company straight from his Culinary Arts degree in the U.S.A. He then transitioned to Director of Food & Beverage and carried this title with him as he travelled the world taking positions in California, Hawaii, China and now here in Dubai. Anthony is no stranger to hotel openings having opened five Marriott International properties in Mexico, Thailand and China.

The third member of the food and beverage team is Thomas Rebler who will oversee the hotel’s wide array of offerings as Director of Culinary. Passionate about authentic, crafted yet simple and approachable cuisine, Thomas is responsible for the execution of all food at the JW Marriott Marquis. In his previous role on Marriott International’s corporate culinary team, Thomas led global efforts in research and development of targeted initiatives and programmes across all Marriott brands. Thomas has also served as Executive Chef of the JW Marriott Hong Kong, the company’s flagship hotel in Asia Pacific, and the Renaissance Inya Lake Hotel in Yangon, Myanmar which ultimately brought him to the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai.

Steven Dowd has been appointed as Director of Finance for the new luxury property. His responsibilities will include managing the pre-opening stage, providing Financial Leadership, assisting in moving from pre-opening to operation, and establishing excellent working relationships with the hotel team and Owners.

Steven has been working in Hospitality for over 28 years, starting his career in the UK in 1984. During the last 20 years Steven has worked in Cairo, Amman and Abu Dhabi and his experience covers the 5 star hotel market for both luxury hotels as well as larger operations. Yasmin joined Marriott International in 2008 as the Area Director of Human Resources for South East Asia, HK and Macau.

The Marquis endorsement is reserved for iconic properties in the Marriott International portfolio, defined by their scale, grandeur and location. The new JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai will be the first JW Marriott Marquis branded property outside of North America (after the JW Marriott Marquis Miami) and sends a strong signal about how Marriott International views Dubai’s growing importance and global influence.
