Klaus Sennik names GM of the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Melaka

Klaus Sennik, one of south east Asia’s most experience hoteliers, has been appointed General Manager of the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Melaka.

Klaus Sennik has a wealth of experience in a broad range of international hospitality markets including Thailand, Hong Kong, Dubai, Kenya, Germany, Indonesia and Afghanistan. He was previously General Manager at the Ramada Plaza Bangkok Menam Riverside hotel where, in 2014, he received Wyndham’s prestigious ‘General Manager of the Year’ award for the South East Asia & Pacific Rim region.

Klaus Sennik was credited in reviving the fortunes of this well-established property in the wake of the civil unrest in Thailand throughout 2010 that prompted a major downturn in business and leisure arrivals to the nation’s capital city.

He was instrumental in integrating Wyndham Green – the group’s global Corporate Social Responsibility programme – at the 525-room hotel in Bangkok with a series of successful campaigns to reduce energy consumption, pollution and waste. He also led community engagement programmes in the city that provided much-needed support to families in need.

Klaus Sennik began his hospitality career as a chef, working in a number of well-known establishments before transferring to the Intercontinental Hotel Kabul, Afghanistan in March 1979. His efforts in maintaining a kitchen capable of servicing a 200-room hotel with three F&B outlets during the conflict in Afghanistan became a legendary tale in hospitality circles.

His more recent roles include that of Director of Food & Beverage at the Hotel Nikko, Kuala Lumpur from 1995 to 1998.

Klaus Sennik said, “It is a real pleasure to return to Malaysia as General Manager of the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Melaka. This is a fantastic city in a truly amazing country with a wealth of tourism assets to suit every type of leisure traveler.

“I am looking forward to playing an enthusiastic role in supporting the campaign launched by Tourism Melaka to attract more visitors to the State in 2019. We are indeed the ‘Gateway to Historic Malaysia’ and I commend the efforts of our Chief Minister Adly Zahari and Tourism Melaka General Manager Zairi Suboh to support our thriving tourism sector. I am confident that Visit Melaka Year 2019 will be an outstanding success.”
