Filiz Ük Head of Cologne Convention Bureau

Filiz Ük Became Head of Cologne Convention Bureau

The Cologne Convention Bureau (CCB), which is part of the Cologne Tourist Board, is heading into the year 2020 in a new constellation. Filiz Ük became the head of this unit.

In addition, Sandra Aufschnaiter who has been supporting the CCB since the summer of 2019 is now completing the team together with Lea Scholtysik and Britta Hartmann.

Filiz Ük has been working for the Cologne Tourist Board since 2005. She switched to the CCB when it was founded in 2008. Since then she has mainly worked on the formation and expansion of the CCB network, market and target group analysis, and the automation of marketing, especially in the areas of digitalization and customer care. Ük studied international event management (with a focus on event marketing) at the Cologne Business School.

She is enjoying her new business responsibility. “For me as a native of Cologne, working to help promote Cologne as a meeting destination is a labour of love,” she says. “Among other things, I’d like to focus on expanding our services related to bids for congresses. I also want to devote more attention to the important theme of sustainability in this sector.”

Sandra Aufschnaiter will take up the range of tasks vacated by Ük. Before joining the CCB, she studied tourism management at Kempten University of Applied Sciences as well as international management at Bochum University of Applied Sciences.

Expansion of services for event planning

In 2020 the Cologne Convention Bureau will continue to expand its event planning services. Its checklists for event planning will be supplemented with additional categories, and it will launch a series of “tips and tricks” presented by Cologne-based experts from the sector.

The area of services related to bids for congresses will be expanded in the long-run. In addition to drawing up bid books, the CCB would like to establish a network of congress ambassadors for Cologne who will promote the city throughout the world as an event venue.
