Passports are the ultimate “don’t leave home without it” item, but the nationality of your passport can have a major effect on your travel plans and time abroad. To clue you in on the effects your passport can have, GoEuro has undertaken the task of analysing passports from 50 countries around the world to discover which nationalities’ passports are the most useful in making your way around the globe.
GoEuro has ranked the passports based on visa free access* as well as various other factors. The ability of a citizen to obtain a passport is a key point when considering the passport value, which is why we also factored in data such as pricing, length of validity**, and the amount of hours a citizen must work to obtain their passport***. All factors were weighted and scored to produce the ultimate passport ranking.****

- *Number is based on countries that can be visited by the passport holder without obtaining a visa, or where a visa can be obtained upon arrival.
- **The price and length of validity are based on a standard adult passport in each country, where there was more than one option for passport length, prices and length of validity were averaged.
- ***The amount of hours worked to obtain a passport was figured based on the national minimum wage where available. For countries where there is no standard minimum wage we looked at average salaries for jobs that would usually provide a minimum wage payment.
- ****The overall ranking was created based in a point system which assigned scores in each category based on the factors as they related to the other passports. These scores were weighted based on the importance of the factor to the public in an online poll, and then combined to come to a final score reflected by the final ranking.
