Aussie wines travel Europe

Autumn has arrived in Europe and Aussie wines started its promotion in UK and rest of the Europe. First was the inaugural Premium Australia Tasting in London and then team Wine Australia went on tour with its annual Nordic Roadshow. Wine Australia said that they saw a strong presence of winemakers and principals travelling to each of these events.

The Premium Australia Tasting, held at Australia House in London, saw more than 30 winemakers and principals pouring wines and sharing their stories with the UK trade. This event showcased wines over £10 a bottle to highlight the finest from Australia, while promoting the breadth and depth of the wines.

21st Century Vino with a trilogy of master classes explored Italian varieties grown in Australia. A popular attraction, these booked-out classes educated guests on the history of these varieties in Australia as well as demonstrating the latest in winemaking and Italian varietal wines.

Then the team flew to Oslo for the first of three tastings in Norway, Sweden and Finland. Private tastings for the monopoly buyers as well as tastings for trade and consumers were took place as part of the Nordic Roadshow that provides a vital platform for developing business opportunities in these markets.

Ten winemakers and principals attended in each city and they were delighted to report many business leads and potential partnerships arising from the tastings.

Two master classes in the German cities of Stuttgart and Hamburg topped off a busy month. Presented by Caro Maurer MW, the master classes attracted a mix of media, sommeliers and keen wine students.

Next up on the Wine Australia EMEA calendar is a seminar and tasting on the theme of Old Vines and then Wine Australia Team is building up to the biggest event in the year – the Australia Day tasting in London, Dublin and Edinburgh in January.
