Over 2.84 Million Tourists Visited Myanmar in 10 months of 2018

According to the latest tourism statistics announced by the Hotel and Tourism Ministry, over 2.84 million travelers visited Myanmar in the first 10 months of 2018.

In 2018, the Asian country welcomed slightly more foreign visitors, compared with 2.81 million in the same period last year.

Most travelers arrived in the country through airports. According to statistics over one million tourists visited Myanmar through airports and over 7,000 visitors came with cruise liners. More than 35,000 tourists entered Myanmar through border gates.

58,280 tourists came from North America, 138,545 visitors were from western Europe, 13,160 visitors from eastern Europe, 3,509 visitors from Africa, 4,317 visitors from middle-east countries, 834,712 tourists from Asia and 24,259 visitors from Oceania areas.

Of Asian travelers, over 236,441 visitors from Thailand arrived Myanmar, 227,048 tourists from China, 82,327 tourists from Japan, 53,693 tourists from South Korea.

France topped the list of western European travelers with 32,597, followed by travelers from the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy.
