HMSHost Malaysia Opens Ocean Bar at Langkawi Airport

HMSHost International has opened Ocean Bar, the first of five new food and beverage offerings and part of Langkawi Airport expansion and refurbishment project.

Inspired by the mesmerizing Langkawi’s Andaman Ocean views, Ocean Bar transports the passengers in a relaxing atmosphere that recalls a beach house retreat at the airport. Ocean Bar features surfboards in assorted colors and styles mounted on the walls, mixed of concrete tiles and checkerboard floors with modern industrial accents encourage passengers in the laid-back surroundings accommodating 80 guests.

Ocean Bar offers a diverse menu from Asian to Western fare to reflect Malaysian favorites and international palate – as Chicken Curry, Salmon Brioche, Ocean Bar Surf Platter – breakfast range, seaside influenced bites, all round up with an extensive wine and spirit list, creative signature cocktails and ice-cold beers for whiling away pre-flight time.

“We are thrilled on our continued growth and partnership with Malaysia Airports to offer locally inspired and internationally recognized brands for Langkawi Airport’s more than 4 million yearly passengers,” said Iwan Kruiswijk, General Manager of HMSHost Malaysia. “The new five restaurants will add to the Langkawi Airport’s word-class appeal and to support Langkawi’s growth as the rising popular tourist destination.”

Langkawi International Airport is set over expansion and refurbishment project including terminal increase from 15,000 sqm to 23,000 sqm and following the increase of airport capacity from 1.5 million passengers per annum (mppa) to 4 million mppa.

Ocean Bar is now up and running at landside area which marks the first restaurant portfolio of HMSHost Malaysia at Langkawi International Airport. It will also be home to highly acclaimed brands as Burger King, Ya Kun Kaya Toast and two Costa Coffee stores, which is set to open gradually to the full operation in the beginning of 2019.
