Passenger traffic on St. Petersburg – Helsinki high-speed rail line up 12.8%

In November 2018, the St. Petersburg – Helsinki high-speed Allegro service carried 35,800 passengers, an increase of 12.8% compared to November 2017.

During the 11 months from January to November 2018, Allegro trains carried 441,800 passengers, the same number as during the corresponding period last year.

Since the launch of the international high-speed connection between St. Petersburg and Helsinki on 12 December 2010, Allegro trains have carried a total of 3.2 million people.

Allegro trains have become increasingly attractive to passengers due to flexible fares, marketing initiatives and the extra twin trains which are laid on during days of high demand, for example, during the New Year and Russian Christmas holidays.

In addition, it has been possible to purchase tickets for high-speed Allegro trains 90 days before train departure since 4 October 2018.

Passengers can obtain further information about the Allegro timetable and fares and book tickets at railway ticket offices, online through the official website of Russian Railways or the RZD Passengers mobile app.

Tickets are charged in roubles at the rate set by the Central Bank of Russia on the day the tickets are booked.
