Russian Railways carried 894.1 million passengers in 9 months

According to the latest figures, Russian Railways carried 894.1 million passengers during January – September 2019, an increase of 3.9% compared to the same nine months in 2018.

Long-distance passengers amounted to 90.1 million, a rise of 5.4%, while suburban passenger numbers were up 3.8% to almost 804 million.

Since the beginning of 2019, passenger turnover on the network owned by Russian Railways increased by 3% compared to the same three-quarters last year and amounted to 104.4 billion passenger-kilometers. Suburban passenger turnover was up 3.9% to 25.6 billion pass-km, while passenger turnover in long-distance travel amounted to 78.8 billion pass-km, an increase of 7%.

In January-September 2019, the Moscow Central Ring transported nearly 106 million passengers, an increase of 14.4%. Since the Moscow Central Ring began operations 10 September 2016, it has carried more than 372.9 million passengers. The MCR transported a record number of passengers on 3 April 2019, when it carried 561,956 people.
