Bangkok Airways organizes “Bangkok Airways Phuket Half Marathon”

Bangkok Airways recently organized the “Bangkok Airways Phuket Half Marathon”, the fourth running program of the Bangkok Airways Boutique Series 2019 at Saphan Hin Park, Phuket. Two more marathons will soon be organized.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr.Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Tourism and Sports (Center), Mr.Phakaphong Tavipatana, Governor of Phuket Province (7th from Left), Mr.Prote Setsuwan, Vice President – Marketing at Bangkok Airways (6th from Left), Mr.Virat Patee, Director of Sports Authority of Thailand Phuket (5th from Left), Mrs.Sirawee Waloh, Director of Phuket Tourism and Sports Office (4th from Left), Mrs.Kanokkittika Kritwutikorn, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT.) Phuket Office (6th from Right) and Mr.Kawee Tansukatanon, Deputy Mayor, Phuket City municipality (4th from Right).

“Bangkok Airways Phuket Half Marathon” was organized to promote Phuket tourism and to ensure that participants recognize the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The event was divided into 3 categories, fun run of 5 kilometers, mini-marathon of 10 kilometers and a half marathon of 21 kilometers. All runners had an opportunity to experience beautiful scenery along the running route such as Sino-Portuguese architecture, a perfect combination between Chinese and Portuguese culture, in Phuket Old Town. Furthermore, all participants had a chance to experience Bangkok Airways’ signature boutique touch that features on running shirts, medals and trophies which were designed by Stupidnoobmacc, the renowned Thai illustrator behind “BabyBoy” character using The Pearl of the Andaman as Phuket has been known for to integrate into the design to convey the uniqueness of Phuket.

One of the highlights in this program is “Care the Bear: Change the Climate Change” which is a partnership project between Bangkok Airways and The Stock Exchange of Thailand. The campaign aims to reduce carbon emission from organizing events in which Bangkok Airways put the initiative forward at the Phuket Half Marathon by segregating the waste, reducing the use of plastic and foam and promoting the re-use of event decorations.

Bangkok Airways Phuket Half-Marathon is the fourth event out of six planned programs of the Bangkok Airways Boutique Series 2019. The remaining programs are the “Chiang Rai Marathon” on 15 September 2019 and “Lanna Half Marathon” on 3 November 2019.
