Aintree Grand National

Grand National 2023 – Britain’s Home Team Horses

The Aintree Grand National is one of the sporting events in the world and continues to attract the attention of millions of people from all corners of the globe.

Held in Liverpool, England, the huge horse racing spectacle has been in existence since 1839, thrilling not just fans of the sport, but also the general public who have made viewing the race a yearly tradition.

Despite the race being held in the historic city of Liverpool, it is the Irish-trained horses that have dominated the 4-mile race in recent years. Trainers, jockeys, and horses from the Emerald Isle love to make raids on the biggest races in Britain throughout the year, and of late, the British have struggled to stop the prizes from being taken back across the Irish Sea.

In 2023, Ireland will again send a strong team of horses to the Aintree racecourse for the Grand National, but the British do possess some talented horses of their own this year, that have the potential to keep the trophy on home soil.

Britain’s Grand National Hopes

Corach Rambler

The latest Grand National 2023 odds will tell you that the enigmatic, Corach Rambler, is Britain’s main hope of winning the Aintree showpiece this year. For quite some time the sometimes wayward gelding has been earmarked as a National winner, and after winning at the Cheltenham Festival for the second year running last month, he will arrive in Liverpool in top form.

With a price of +600, you are not likely to find Corach Rambler included in many horse racing tips. The Grand National is a race that has a tendency of being won by big-priced runners in the past, but as they say, horses don’t know what price they are, and just get on with running their race.

Corach Rambler possesses all of the attributes to be a big player in the 2023 renewal of the Grand National, with huge stamina reserves being accompanied by an accurate jumping technique and a strong will to win. His trainer, Lucinda Russell, was the last British trainer to win the race in 2017, so the omens are strong for a big run from the current race favorite.

Le Milos

Cared for by Dan and Harry of the famous Skelton family, Le Milos is considered to be Corach Rambler’s understudy for this year’s Grand National. It is a mantle that is a little unfair for a horse of Le Milos’ obvious talent, and the 8-year-old gelding has very strong credentials of his own for the big race.

Trainer, Dan Skelton, and his jockey brother, Harry, have earmarked this race as the main target for their horse. Still just an 8-year-old, Le Milos has been immense since joining Skelton’s yard, winning two and finishing second in his three starts to date.

Questions will be asked about his ability to stay going over the 4-mile trip, but if he finds the required stamina, he has the touch of class that is now needed to win a Grand National.

Our Power

Rounding out Britain’s top three chances of a National win is another talented 8-year-old, Our Power. Trained in Wales by former top jockey, Sam Thomas, Our Power is another with the credentials to win a race like the Grand National, and he will have the added bonus of carrying one of the lightest weights in the race.

Our Power has been in superb form this season with two impressive victories and the lung-bursting trip of the race should prove to be no problem. The only worry is that he prefers to race on good ground, something that he may not encounter at Aintree this year.

The above horses are likely to be Britain’s main hopes of a Grand National win in 2023. All of them will hold strong chances if everything goes right for them on the day, but with Ireland sending over yet another top-quality team of horses, it is going to be a tough task.
