Adventure travel specialist, World Expeditions, has launched a division named Great Canadian Trails, to present its new range of Canadian active holidays specifically for travellers seeking to explore Canada’s vast wilderness playgrounds.
Based out of World Expeditions’ Ottawa office, Great Canadian Trails offers a selection of both guided and supported self-guided hiking and cycling adventures that include accommodation, luggage transfers, bike rentals, as well as comprehensive maps and route notes.
World Expeditions CEO, Sue Badyari said, “We have been invigorated to embark on this project by the significant investment of the Canadian Government together with the wonderful efforts of volunteers in the development of trail systems to link the Trans Canada Trail.”
The Trans Canada Trail is set to become the longest recreational trail globally, stretching nearly 24,000kms from the Pacific to the Atlantic Oceans and passing through more than 1,000 communities.
The majority of the Great Canadian Trail itineraries incorporate parts of the Trans Canada Trail and World Expeditions has pledged to donate CAN$100 per trekker to support the development of the coast-to-coast trail network, which is scheduled for completion by 2017, corresponding with the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation.
The hiking and cycling season is from May through October. More information at www.worldexpeditions.com or call 1300 720 000.
