Hawaii will lift quarantine and pre-travel testing requirements for fully vaccinated domestic travelers on July 8, 2021.
Hawaii Governor David Ige made the announcement in anticipation that in about two weeks’ time, the state will hit a 60% fully vaccinated population.
Starting Thursday, July 8, vaccinated travelers from the United States and its territories into Hawai‘i may bypass quarantine measures with proof of their inoculation.
"Social gatherings will increase to 25 indoors and 75 outdoors statewide. Restaurants can also increase to 75% capacity", he said.
Tourism has traditionally been a big part of Hawaii's economy. More than 10.4 million visitors came to the islands in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting more than 200,000 jobs in a population of about 1.4 million, according to the state tourism authority.
Travelers will need to enter their vaccination records into the Safe Travels system, and bring a hard copy of the record to Hawai‘i.
Those traveling before July 8 are still required to participate in Safe Travels and are subject to state mandates.
