travel planning packing

6 things you need to take on a backpacking adventure

Backpacking is one of the most liberating experiences you can have. You can move from place to place without a care in the world.

However, you need to fill your pack with the right things. Here are six things you need to take on a backpacking adventure.

Earplugs / eye mask

This is a must to take with you, especially if you’re planning on camping out. The earplugs not only help you get to sleep faster but also helps cut down the noise pollution that will be around you. You’ll get better quality sleep and wake up feeling refreshed. Meanwhile, the eye mask will block out any light from your surroundings, so you can fall asleep easier.

This ensures that the sun doesn’t wake you up in the morning or any light for that matter. You also don’t have to worry about dangling cables from your speakers/headphones strangling you while you sleep.

Sleeping bag

A sleeping bag is a key item to take with you, especially if you’re backpacking. You might think that it’s hot during the day but at night it can get quite cold. A sleeping bag will keep you nice and warm all night long so you can wake up in the morning refreshed so you don’t feel groggy when trekking.

Headlamp

A headlamp is a must-have for anyone going outdoors. This will be useful when you need to do something in the dark but it’s also a safety feature. If there’s a light source above your head, especially if it’s attached to you, this ensures that any cars or passersby can clearly see you when you’re outside. This is especially important in the winter when it gets dark much earlier than it does in the summer.

A headlamp is also useful when you’re reading a map or trying to set up camp at night. You don’t want to be fumbling around with your hands trying to find what you need, especially if it’s cold.

A Swiss / multi-purpose / pocket knife

This is useful in so many ways! You can cut fruit, rope, or any other materials you need. However, this isn’t just for backpacking but also camping trips. This will come in handy when you want to roast marshmallows or even if you get lost during a hiking trip.

Smartphone with apps

This is one of the things you need to take with you if you don’t want to get lost. If your phone doesn’t have any service, it’s also useful for using it as an indoor compass or just checking the time when you’re in a different timezone. You can also use any navigation apps that are available on your phone, like Google Maps.

On top of that, you can use your smartphone for entertainment. Play online casino games at Lucky Nugget mobile casino, download your favorite songs, and even watch Netflix.

Travel adaptor with USB ports

This is needed not only when you’re backpacking, but also if you travel internationally. It’s useful for charging anything that has a USB port on it, whether it’s your phone or any other tools you have with you. You’ll want to get a travel adapter so you won’t have to worry about running out of battery power while you’re on the go.
