Thailand Further Relaxes COVID-19 Restrictions from Dec. 16

Thailand trip

Effective from 16 December, Thailand introduced a new round of relaxation in line with the ‘smart control and living with COVID-19’ approach.

Published on 15 December 2021 in the Royal Thai Government Gazette, the new rules relax more COVID-19 restrictions nationwide, allowing the New Year countdown festivities, and further easing rules for travelers entering Thailand.

The New Year countdown festivities will be allowed to take place under the COVID-free setting guidelines, which include vaccination requirements, universal prevention, health and hygiene measures, and antigen testing.

All events must ensure that everyone is fully vaccinated. Events with at least 1,000 participants must also ensure that everyone has received a negative antigen test result 72 hours prior to the event. Open-air restaurants with good ventilation nationwide will be allowed to serve alcoholic drinks to customers during the New Year countdown until 01.00 Hrs. on 1 January 2022.
