Park Hyatt Debuts in Morocco with New Marrakech Resort

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announced the opening of Park Hyatt Marrakech, marking the debut of the Park Hyatt brand in Morocco.

The brand’s presence grows in Africa, joining Park Hyatt Zanzibar and the forthcoming Park Hyatt Johannesburg, slated for 2025.

Nestled about 9 miles from the historic Medina district of Marrakech, the resort spans a vast 19 acres at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. This location is not just a backdrop but a central character in the resort’s narrative. Surrounded by lush palm, olive, and jacaranda trees, the resort neighbors the Al Maaden Golf resort, offering guests exclusive access to its 18-hole course.

The Park Hyatt Marrakech differentiates itself with a unique blend of modern and traditional Arab-Berber heritage. It’s not just a place to stay; it’s an invitation to immerse in the rich tapestry of Moroccan culture. The resort is designed for the global traveler seeking to indulge in the splendor of Marrakech and Morocco at large. From its authentic design elements to its focus on the surrounding environment, the hotel offers a sensory-rich experience.

The resort comprises 16 pavilions arranged around a zeolite patio, embodying the personalized luxury Park Hyatt is known for. Guests can expect hyperlocal experiences, ranging from breakfast in a hot-air balloon over the Three Atlas Valleys to dinner in a Bedouin tent in the Agafay desert. Even the airport transfers are an experience, with luxury electric cars at your service.

Javier Águila, Group President EAME, Hyatt, emphasizes the strategic importance of this launch. “As a key market in our regional growth strategy, the opening of Morocco’s first Park Hyatt hotel in Marrakech is a momentous occasion. The property is a highly anticipated addition, especially as Morocco experiences a resurgence as a premier cultural destination among discerning travelers,” he said. Park Hyatt Marrakech is the eleventh Park Hyatt property in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, joining other prestigious locations like Doha, Vienna, and Paris.

The resort’s design, crafted by renowned Marrakech-based architect Imaad Rahmouni, is a contemporary homage to Moroccan aesthetics. It balances modern comforts with traditional craftsmanship, making the stunning landscapes an extension of its interiors. The guestrooms and suites, among the most spacious in Marrakech, offer tranquility with Moroccan touches, including traditionally woven Berber carpets and Tataoui motif headboards.

Art plays a significant role at Park Hyatt Marrakech. In collaboration with Ifitry Artists’ Residence, over 700 paintings and decorative objects adorn the hotel, showcasing a diverse range of artists. The lobby features a striking ceramic piece by Mounat Charrat and abstract paintings by Italian artist Gianni Lucchessi, set against raw-earth wall panels.

Dining at Park Hyatt Marrakech is a journey through authentic and global flavors. TFAYA, an arabesque brasserie led by acclaimed Moroccan chef Issam Rhachi, offers avant-garde takes on traditional dishes. Le Pavillon and The Living Room provide more casual dining experiences, with menus that blend local and international cuisine.

Wellbeing is central to the Park Hyatt Marrakech experience. The spa, sprawling over 23,000 square feet, is a sanctuary offering traditional hammam rituals and holistic therapies. The fitness center, yoga studio, and various pools cater to guests’ physical wellness needs.

The resort also boasts seven function rooms for events, from weddings to corporate meetings. Each space reflects the resort’s understated elegance, ensuring memorable gatherings.

Pascal Leprou, General Manager of Park Hyatt Marrakech, looks forward to welcoming guests. “We have created a refined home-away-from-home that offers unparalleled enrichment while honoring Moroccan traditions. It’s an intimate sanctuary set in magical surroundings, perfect for the curious and adventurous traveler.”

The opening of Park Hyatt Marrakech is more than just a new destination; it’s a gateway to experiencing Morocco’s enchanting beauty and rich cultural heritage through the lens of luxury and exclusivity.
