Widect: Turkish Airlines’ Venture into E-Commerce Logistics

Turkish Airlines has announced the launch of Widect, a venture aimed at maximizing Turkey’s potential in the international express market through its extensive flight network and direct connection capabilities.

Operating under the slogan “Wide-direct-connect,” Widect aspires to elevate Turkey’s standing in the international express market.

Widect promises comprehensive solutions by integrating the extensive flight network of Turkish Airlines and the logistic expertise of Turkish Cargo. It will offer end-to-end services, including door-to-door collection, export customs clearance, air cargo, import customs clearance, delivery, return processes, storage services, and all logistic requirements needed by the e-commerce sector.

Leveraging Istanbul’s advantage as a hub for e-commerce logistics, Widect aims to provide fast and quality service at optimum costs and is set to commence operations in the first quarter of 2024. It aspires to be a reliable solution partner for e-commerce logistics originating from Turkey and will also support micro exports.

Combining high reliability, transparency, speed, and cost advantages, Widect is poised to start its operations in the first quarter of 2024.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, expressed his pleasure in announcing their new brand, Widect, which combines their expertise in logistics and air cargo with customized solutions and innovation for e-commerce. He sees Widect as a significant driving force to increase collaboration in the dynamic and growing e-commerce sector and to expand the e-commerce ecosystem.

He stated, “We have seen so far that the initiation of flights by Turkish Airlines to a country significantly contributes to increasing the trade volume with the concerned country. With this approach, we aim to offer the solutions needed by our country’s exporters, make new markets accessible, and thus create new opportunities, aiming to bring our country to 10% of the total exports, which is the e-export target.”

Widect is not just a venture but a vision to fortify Turkey’s position in the global e-commerce logistics, aiming to provide innovative solutions and expand the e-commerce ecosystem, thereby contributing to the country’s economic growth and international trade relations. (AA)
