Turkish Airlines, flying to more countries than any other airline, has marked a significant milestone in the Pacific Northwest with the launch of its 12th U.S. gateway in Seattle Washington, on Friday, May 27, 2022.
The global airline now services four flights per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Istanbul Airport (IST) using its 300-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
The inaugural flight departing Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), flight TK204, was subsequently celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony held on Wednesday, June 15th in the new gateway’s airport, which was graced by Port of Seattle leaders and Turkish Airlines executives, including Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat.
With its centrally located hub at the new Istanbul Airport, scheduled to be the world’s largest upon completion, Turkish Airlines now flies to 340 destinations in 129 countries spanning five continents, and is strategically positioned to connect to more than 60 destinations within a three-hour flight from Istanbul.
With the addition of Seattle, Turkish Airlines now has a total of 17 gateway cities in North America including Atlanta, Washington, D.C., New York, Chicago, Houston, Miami, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal, Mexico City, Cancun – and three new gateways in 2021 – Newark, Dallas and Vancouver.
