A new luxury hotel project will bring a new option for travelers planning a vacation in Sicily, Italy this year.
Scheduled to open in April 2023, Palazzo Vecchio Taormina will be the new address to be included in the carnet d’adresse of the sophisticated contemporary traveller.
In an ancient nineteenth-century building, perched on sixteenth-century walls, born Palazzo Vecchio Taormina inside a typical Taormina house. A very high profile project, a new milestone for luxury hospitality in Taormina, wanted by Stefano Gegnacorsi, Owner and Managing Director of Palazzo Vecchio Taormina.
“I’m happy to start my project – explains Stefano Gegnacorsi, soul of the project – By making use of my many years as General Manager of historic five-stars hotel in Italy, i am proud to give shape to a dream, to the desire to create a new address of elegance and style in the world of international hospitality.”
The restyling project is overseen by the architect Andrea Perra, a very popular name in the world of hospitality.
“Palazzo Vecchio Taormina intends to recreate a contemporary stop on the Grand Tour realised by travellers between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries – underlines the architect Perra – We want to accompany the guest to discover a typical Taormina house, characterized by the art of hospitality and welcome. Upon our arrival, guests will be greeted by the phrase – Welcome home!”
Palazzo Vecchio Taormina is a boutique hotel with 12 luxury suites, which will change mood at different times of the day. The bar, for example, will become “a candle bar” during the evening.
The colonial style Orangerie, typical of Sicilian houses of the twentieth century, will be a crucial place for the hotel, with rattan furnishings. The bar will be decorated with wallpapers with trompe l’oeil, which will wrap the entire bar, with velvet seats to welcome guests and vintage furniture, with Louis XVI console, antique silverware and an aviary, as in the tradition of Sicilian houses, recalling the residences of the Sicilian Florio dinasty.
“The concept is to receive like at home. To be innovative you have to look to the past – adds Andrea Perra. – We re-propose an ancient Sicily, in a contemporary vision”
The restaurant of Palazzo Vecchia Taormina, Monsù, will welcome guests from breakfast to dinner, discovering the ancient recipes of the Monsù, cooks in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. The terrace of Palazzo Vecchio Taormina will be a real jewel, which dominates from a tower suspended between the blue sky, the sea of the bay of Taormina and the view of Mount Etna, perfect for aperitifs with breathtaking views.
Palazzo Vecchio Taormina will be an explosion of typical Sicilian plants: orange blossoms, Sicilian jasmine, boungavillae.
