Spain’s new high-speed train company Iryo launched began its services between Madrid and Andalusia on Friday, March 31st.
iryo is the new brand from railway operator ILSA, which began operating services in Spain on the 25th of November 2022. Unlike their competitors (AVE, Avlo, and OUIGO Spain), iryo trains offer a premium service on board.
With the launch of the new services between Madrid and Andalusia, the low-cost offer from Iryo becomes the first Renfe competitor to offer services to Córdoba, Seville and Málaga.
Iryo on March 31 debuts train service between Madrid and Seville. The train service will also connect Córdoba and Málaga en route.
Iryo initially will provide two trips in each direction in April and gradually increase frequencies to three in May and then four in June. By the end of June, the new train company plans to rise trips to five.
The Iryo brand began operations in Barcelona in November 2022 and has also expanded to Valencia, planning to continue opening new destinations this year.
The services are due to arrive in Antequera, Alicante and Albacete on June 2nd and, Tarragona, on June 15th.
