Austrian Airlines Introduces: Tastefully Austrian

From mid-June, Austrian Airlines will elevate the onboard experience with an extended menu and distinctive display of food and drinks through its new long-haul catering approach, “Tastefully Austrian.”

Michael Trestl, CCO of Austrian Airlines, emphasizes, “We aim to provide our guests with a flying piece of Austria – a culinary experience the Austrian way.”

The new long-haul menu concept stands out with its distinctive features, such as the “Viennese coffee house service on board,” setting it apart from other airlines. “Our goal is to highlight Austrian hospitality and cuisine and to offer our guests an individual experience,” explains Michael Trestl.

The concept allows passengers more customization options and flexibility to adapt their onboard meals to their personal preferences. Additionally, the Flying Chef was reintroduced in April.

In the Business Class, guests can expect a range of new highlights, including a bar snack with the welcome drink or an expanded selection with the addition of a soup due to its popularity. Moreover, passengers can choose between two international main courses and also enjoy an Austrian signature dish. A special highlight is the Viennese coffee house service brought into the cabin. Our guests can look forward to a variety of coffees prepared right in front of them and served together with the dessert. Additionally, a separate cheese trolley with digestive options will be presented in the cabin.

Not only in Business Class but also in Premium Economy and Economy Class, there will be innovations on long-haul destinations. This includes new recipes and creations offered in the proven three- or four-course menus with two main course options. On all long-haul flights, a light dish or a small breakfast will also be served.

Austrian pleasure above the clouds

The menu concept was developed in line with Austrian Airlines’ corporate values. Since April 2023, Austrian embodies a new brand orientation, in line with the motto: “Austria’s flair in the air.” This motto aims to embody hospitality and the Austrian sense of home. And exactly that is conveyed to guests through the new culinary concept onboard. “We are proud to return to our former strength with our new long-haul concept and to bring Austrian culinary excellence to our passengers at the highest level,” concludes Austrian CCO Michael Trestl.
