Italy’s national carrier Ita Airways canceled 42 domestic flights scheduled for Tuesday due to a countrywide strike by workers in the airline sector, the company said on Monday.
In a statement, Ita Airways said it has made new reservations for the passengers of the flights affected by the strike and that only 50% of those passengers will be able to fly on the same day.
The strike involving flight personnel, airport staff, and baggage handling workers will last for the entire day on Tuesday.
Workers demand an increase in salary to compensate partially for this year’s high inflation and more days of holidays. (AA)
