ITA Airways, in its continued dedication to sustainable and integrated mobility, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with W2 by GO7.
This collaboration is set to act as the technical enabler for a combined train and air transportation system across multiple destinations within the Deutsche Bahn network.
Building on the momentum of the ITA Airways intermodal program introduced in April 2023, expanded combined ticket offerings to passengers abroad traveling by train in Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Thanks to a new partnership, passengers holding an ITA Airways ticket on a flight from Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate to Frankfurt airport will be able to continue their journey in Germany or Switzerland with a single ticket and travel on Deutsche Bahn high-speed trains to reach their destination.
This innovative train + air ticketing system expands ITA Airways’ reach to an impressive 13 new destinations. Twelve of these are in Germany, including major cities like Cologne, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Dresden, Munich, Leipzig, Berlin, Hamburg, Hannover, Nuremberg, Munster, and Bremen. Additionally, the Swiss city of Basel has been added to the list.
This strategic move by ITA Airways underscores the airline’s commitment to intermodal solutions. It aligns perfectly with the company’s core values of sustainability, innovation, and a customer-first approach. The primary objective is to foster enhanced connectivity between Germany and Italy. This is achieved by ensuring smooth connections via the Rome Fiumicino hub and Milan Linate airport to all destinations within the ITA Airways network.
For those eager to take advantage of this combined ticketing system, purchasing is made easy. Tickets are available through various ITA Airways sales channels. This includes the official ita-airways.com website, the ITA Airways mobile app, authorized travel agencies, ITA Airways ticket offices, and the ITA Airways Customer Center.
