The Ritz-Carlton, Portland, officially opened its doors on October 31, 2023, marking a new chapter in luxury for the Pacific Northwest.
This 35-story, 251-room hotel not only introduces the first Ritz-Carlton property to the region but also offers guests unparalleled views of Portland from its central downtown location.
The hotel’s opening is a culmination of a collaborative effort that celebrates the unique culture and community of Portland. General Manager Marie Browne highlights the partnership with local artisans and purveyors in creating an authentic Pacific Northwest experience. The Ritz-Carlton, Portland, is set to become a new destination for both locals and visitors.
Designed by GBD Architects, the hotel’s architecture is a nod to the natural beauty of Oregon, with a white base inspired by columnar basalt formations and a cascading series of stormwater planters. At night, the building’s gem-shaped glass dome illuminates, adding a new sparkle to the city’s skyline.
Inside, the hotel’s interiors, crafted by ROAM Interior Design, blend wilderness magic with modern luxury. The grand lobby, known as Forest Hall, welcomes guests with elements that celebrate Oregon’s lush landscapes, from rustic logs to maps of historic expeditions. The hotel’s biophilic design is a tribute to the state’s natural splendor.
Meadowrue, the intimate lobby bar, offers a serene setting that mirrors the outdoor beauty of Oregon. It serves as a coffee lounge by day, partnering with Coava Coffee Roasters for an exclusive blend, and transforms into a destination for craft cocktails and local bites by night.
The guestrooms and suites continue the theme of Oregon’s forests and rivers, with design elements that pay homage to the city’s history. The Ritz-Carlton Club® on the 20th floor provides a more personalized experience, showcasing handmade treasures and local artwork.
The 19th floor is dedicated to health and wellness, featuring the Hidden Mountain Lake Infinity Pool with views of the Cascade Mountains, The Ritz-Carlton Spa®, and a comprehensive fitness facility and yoga studio.
