Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel to open in March 2024

Minor Hotels to Introduce Luxury Anantara Brand in Vienna in 2024

Minor Hotels has announced an exciting development: the introduction of its prestigious Anantara brand in Vienna, Austria.

Set to open in March 2024, the Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel marks a significant step in the group’s strategic expansion across Europe. This announcement heralds a new era of luxury and elegance in the Austrian capital, known for its rich cultural heritage and architectural grandeur.

The Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel, nestled in the heart of Vienna on the famous Schottenring, part of the city’s Ring Boulevard, is steeped in history. Occupying a listed palace built in 1873 by Theophil Hansen for the Vienna World’s Exhibition, this iconic building has evolved through various roles over the years. Its transformation into a luxury hotel in 2013, then operating as Palais Hansen Kempinski, has set the stage for its upcoming rebranding under the Anantara flag.

The hotel will feature 152 classically decorated guest rooms and suites, including a sprawling 270-square meter Presidential Suite, the largest in Vienna. Dining experiences at the hotel are set to be a gourmet’s delight, featuring a Michelin-starred restaurant and a range of other dining options including regional cuisine at the Wintergarten, an elegant Lobby Lounge & Bar, and a Cigar Lounge. The property will also offer extensive facilities for meetings and events, including ten function rooms and a ballroom accommodating up to 265 people. Leisure amenities will include an indoor swimming pool, fitness center, and a spa.

Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel is scheduled to undergo significant renovations starting later in 2024 and continuing into 2025. The refurbishment will encompass guest rooms and suites, the lobby, meeting spaces, restaurants, and bars. Furthermore, the existing spa will be upgraded and relaunched as Anantara Spa, blending European and Asian wellness traditions.

Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International and CEO of Minor Hotels, expressed enthusiasm about bringing the Anantara brand to Vienna, a city celebrated for its cultural significance and vibrant modernity. This expansion into Vienna is a testament to Minor Hotels’ commitment to growing its presence and brand portfolio across Europe.

Vienna, a city with UNESCO World Heritage status, marries its historical charm with a modern spirit, offering a rich tapestry of cultural experiences, from avant-garde theaters and a young music scene to iconic landmarks like St. Stephen’s Cathedral and Schönbrunn Palace.
