Today at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2024, Mexico has been declared the ‘Partner Country’ for FITUR 2025, heralding a new era in international tourism collaboration.
This prestigious designation was jointly announced by José Vicente de los Mozos, President of IFEMA MADRID’s Executive Committee; Miguel Torruco Marqués, Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico; and Juan Enrique Suarez del Real Tostado, President of the Mexican Tourism Secretaries Association (ASETUR), during the second professional day of FITUR.
This partnership, culminating in the 45th edition of Madrid’s International Tourism Fair, will allow Mexico to enhance its international positioning, boost its promotional potential, and showcase its rich tourism offerings to the world. The announcement was made in the presence of Quirino Ordaz Coppel, the Mexican Ambassador to Spain, Juan Arrizabalaga, the General Director of IFEMA MADRID, and María Valcarce, the director of FITUR.
The collaboration marks a significant milestone in Mexico’s impressive trajectory in the tourism sector, particularly following the post-pandemic period. The country has undertaken substantial institutional and business efforts, implementing measures that facilitated a swift tourism recovery compared to other nations.
This growth enables Mexico to leverage its presence at major platforms like FITUR, highlighting the cultural, heritage, and gastronomic richness of its 32 states and 177 Magical Towns. This partnership with FITUR, the world’s leading tourism trade fair and a central hub for the Ibero-American tourism industry, provides a unique opportunity for Mexico to showcase its diverse attractions.
José Vicente de los Mozos commented, “This alliance further strengthens the ties between Spain and Mexico, establishing intense collaboration to support the promotion of Mexico’s vast tourism wealth under the FITUR brand, today recognized as the world’s most important fair due to its high participation and international growth.”
Miguel Torruco Marqués, Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, highlighted the extraordinary value of this collaboration, especially at a time when aligning the country’s interests to project Mexico’s tourism potential globally is crucial. This partnership with FITUR will significantly boost the visibility of the Marca País México (Mexico Country Brand).
Juan Enrique Suarez del Real Tostado, President of ASETUR, emphasized that this agreement is a result of joint efforts among all Mexican Tourism Secretaries and the State Government, marking a significant achievement in unifying various interests to promote Mexico’s tourism, alongside the best ally, FITUR.
The partnership between IFEMA MADRID and ASETUR, and the inclusion of Mexico as the Partner Country at FITUR 2025, promises to be a game-changer in the world of international tourism. It’s a demonstration of the growing importance of collaborative efforts in promoting tourism and cultural exchange on a global scale.
