Air Arabia touches down Vienna

Air Arabia touches down in Vienna

The largest low-cost airline in the Middle East & North Africa, Air Arabia now offers flights between Vienna and Sharjah for the first time. Although Air Arabia flies to Sharjah, travelers can reach Dubai or Ras Al Khaimah by car in just 20 minutes.

At present four weekly flights will be operated, which will be expanded to daily flight service as of the middle of December. The new flight connection was officially inaugurated within the context of a press briefing today, Wednesday, September 18, 2019, by Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport, and Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia.

“With Air Arabia, the largest low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa is represented at Vienna Airport. Above all, Austria as a tourism location benefits from the new direct flight connection. Vienna is a popular travel destination for passengers from Arab countries. However, passengers from Austria will get a new look at the Emirates thanks to the flight service to Sharjah offered from Vienna for the very first time. Demand for flights to this region is increasing. We have registered close to 13% growth on flights to the Middle East since the beginning of the year”, states Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.

Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia said: “We are glad to start our direct flights connecting Vienna and Sharjah. This new service will provide our customers in the United Arab Emirates and Austria with a great opportunity to discover the beauty of both countries while enjoying Air Arabia value-for-money offers. We thank Vienna Airport for their support and we look forward to a long-term partnership.”

Sharjah is the third-largest city in the United Arab Emirates and is located directly next to Dubai. In addition to heavenly beaches, this destination features a particularly extensive offering of culture which visitors can enjoy. Sharjah was even named the Cultural Capital of the Arab World by UNESCO in 1998 thanks to its numerous mosques, palaces, museums, and historic old town. Passengers can reach Dubai from Air Arabia’s airport hub of Sharjah in a 20-minute car journey and can also comfortably travel to the Emirate of Ras al Khaimah. Furthermore, Air Arabia also offers numerous other destinations from its home base in Sharjah as well.

A direct flight from Vienna to Sharjah in six hours

For the time being, Air Arabia will operate the new direct flight four times per week. Flights will take off from Vienna every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and head to Sharjah. Air Arabia will even increase frequencies on this route to one daily flight in the middle of December 2019. The flight time is six hours.
