South Africa makes Family Travel Easier

South African Tourism (SAT) recently announced that minors traveling to the destination will no longer need to provide Unabridged Birth Certificates or consent letters when accompanied by parents and carrying valid passports.

The announcement comes on the heels of South Africa’s Minister of Home Affairs, Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi, recently signing a waiver doing away with this requirement.

“We are pleased to continue improving the experience of our family travelers coming to South Africa, ensuring they spend more time at the destination and less time worrying about the provision,” said Jerry Mpufane, President of South African Tourism, North America. “Our utmost priority is to provide an enjoyable, safe and seamless experience for travelers from the very moment they arrive. As we get set to launch non-stop service between New York and Cape Town, efforts such as this and other strategic partnerships coming into fruition are only further supporting our efforts to present South Africa as the ultimate destination for all travelers.”

Following the announcement, all ports of entry, as well as the airline and maritime industries, were informed.

South Africa is an ideal family destination with convenient long-haul connections from all parts of the world. From Madikwe Safari Lodge, King’s Camp to visiting Table Mountain or Tsitsikamma National Park, the destination provides an exciting array of activities and offerings for every budget and age including world-class, family-friendly accommodations and dining options. South Africa is also malaria-free making it an attractive option for families wanting to experience safaris and wildlife without having to take medication.
