Booking.com Opens T20 Pavilion

Former Strictly winners Darren Gough and Harry Judd have partnered up to celebrate their love of cricket, by officially opening a luxury T20 Pavilion glamping stay, created by Booking.com to mark the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.

Booking.com is the official accommodation booking partner of the tournament, which is currently taking place in the UAE and Oman.

Former England cricketer Gough and musician Judd, made themselves at home in the bespoke airstream which is packed with quirks andluxuries. It also comes complete with the sights, sounds and smells of cricket.

The two stars took to the crease inside the airstream for a mini cricket game on the specially fitted grass carpet wicket, and familiarised themselves with fun features, like the Howzat toilet flush, before relaxing in deckchairs on the picket fenced lawn outside, with refreshments from the giant cricket ball bar.

Booking.com’s T20 Pavilion also contains:

  • the sound of cricket stadium applause, activated when the door opens
  • a glossary of cricket terms which run on a sound loop in the bathroom, when it’s in use
  • clever cricket themed furniture
  • cosy cricket blankets
  • a top of the range flatscreen TV for match viewing
  • the smell of cut grass, leather on willow, and freshly laundered cricket whites in the interior spaces

The airstream glamping stay, located in the picturesque and quintessentially English setting of Totteridge Millhillians Cricket Club, was bookedinstantly when the listing went live on 23 October, as England recorded a convincing win in their opening match against the defending champions West Indies.

Two lucky guests will stay on Saturday 30 October, when England take on their oldest rivals Australia, in the Super 12 stage of thetournament (at 1400 GMT).  Another booking window for guests to stay on  1 November, to watch England play Sri lanka, will open at 1300 today. The booking fee is £20.21.

Gough said, “I’ve travelled to hundreds of cricket grounds all over the world, and have seen some amazing clubhouses, especially in South Africa, but I’ve never seen anything like the Booking.com T20 Pavilion. It’s absolutely fantastic and great fun.  I can’t think of a better place to watch England take on Australia on Saturday.

“These two sides are such big rivals, so hopefully they’ll bring out the best in each other and we’ll see a cracking game. Whatever happens, I’m sure whoever is lucky enough to stay here will have a brilliant time.”

Judd added, “I’m a huge cricket fan and am really excited about watching England play Australia at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Saturday. Though I’m not sure that watching it at home in my living room will be quite as fun as being here in the Booking.com T20 Pavilion.

“During the last couple of years I’ve really missed travelling, so it’s amazing to see top level sport and entertainment coming back for everyone to enjoy around the world. Good luck to England and I hope it’s a great match.”

Booking.com’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 partnership is underpinned by a Best of Rivals philosophy, which supports the premise that when rivals get together they bring out the best in each other. This applies to both the players competing for glory and the fans beyond the boundary.

The travel brand’s partnership with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 is part of a five-year global strategic partnership with the International Cricket Council, in which Booking.com is the exclusive accommodation booking partner for all ICC events.
