Eastern Airways, the UK’s regional airline and based at Humberside Airport, is to start serving Cornwall Airport Newquay for this summer.
The new service, commencing on Friday April 1st, will operate twice weekly each way on a Monday and Friday, helping increase regional connectivity from the Humber & Yorkshire region to the hub airport of Cornwall and also serving South West Devon.
The flight schedule has been designed to provide maximum opportunity for long weekend stays, weekly commuting and those who also wish to visit friends or family, avoiding the otherwise seven hour drive or eight hour rail journey between the regions.
With fares on the route starting from £74.99 one-way, including a complimentary 15kg hold bag and all taxes and charges, flights are available to book now at www.easternairways.com
Adam Wheatley, Managing Director of Eastern Airways, commented; “Helping solve vital regional connectivity is what Eastern Airways have done for twenty five years. From our home base at Humberside, the addition of Cornwall Newquay, our newest base, helps connect one of the most distant surface transport journeys from the Humber Bank, Lincolnshire and East Riding of Yorkshire to one of the most popular tourist destinations in the UK.
“We are delighted to add Humberside to our London Gatwick service from Cornwall Newquay, adding to our existing services to Aberdeen which we have served continuously since 1997 and the return for the third year of Jersey which commences in May. All services from Humberside operate on low emission aircraft fitting our belief in how sustainable aviation can meet the need of the UK economy and extensive connectivity into the future.
“This also comes at a time when we are delighted to be adding new roles to support our expansion of services across our network”
Deborah Zost, Managing Director of Humberside Airport said: “The addition of a twice weekly service to Cornwall Airport Newquay, operated by Eastern Airways, is fantastic news particularly as the economy begins to gather pace again after two very challenging years. Eastern Airways currently operates routes to Aberdeen and Jersey from its home base at Humberside Airport, and I am sure this service will be a welcome addition for holidaymakers looking to access the beautiful region of Cornwall from their local airport.”
Sam O’Dwyer, Managing Director, Cornwall Airport Newquay added: “ We’re delighted to be adding Humberside to our network with Eastern Airways from Cornwall. With the demand for domestic travel increasing rapidly again now we are confident that this route will prove popular with those looking to find an efficient and cost-effective way to travel between the two regions.”
The service departs Humberside at 11:10 am on both Mondays and Fridays, with a return service leaving Cornwall Newquay at 1.05 pm, with a flight time of a little over an hour each way.
All services, including up to twice daily Aberdeen and weekly Saturday Jersey service commencing 21st May, operate on low emission regional turbo-prop aircraft also ensuring the route is delivered as a low carbon, environmentally sustainable option. This supports both the airport and airline’s strategies towards sustainability, while offering a fast, convenient and hassle-free way of travelling for varied lengths of stay.
