Russians Sochi Holidays Get Pricier Than Dubai

As Ukraine – Russia war continues, attacks and explosions in the annexed Crimea resulted in a decline in the interest of Russian tourists to visit the region.

Meanwhile, hotel prices in Sochi – Russia’s popular seaside resort, increased by 20-30 percent.

The price of a 10-day vacation in a 4-star hotel in Sochi went up to 220 thousand rubles (about 2850 USD).

According to the data of the Russian Association of Tour Operators, after the attack on Simferopol Airport last year, the demand of tourists to Crimea decreased by 30 percent and hotel prices increased by 40 percent.

The Moscow Times reported that the holiday price in Sochi has become higher than in Dubai hotels and that a 10-day holiday in Dubai can be made for 180 thousand rubles (2330 USD).

It is stated that Russian tourists also show interest in holiday options in St. Petersburg, Kazan and Moscow as an alternative to Sochi.
