Club Med Signs for First Gulf Resort in Oman

Club Med has officially signed the agreement for its first resort in the Gulf countries, the Club Med Musandam in Oman.

The signing ceremony included several high-profile attendees: Oman’s Minister of Heritage and Tourism Salim Bin Mohammed Al Mahrougi, the Secretary General of the Royal Court Affairs Nasr bin Hamoud Al Kindi, French Ambassador Véronique Aulagnon, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and Chairman of Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN Group) Azzan bin Qassim Al Busaidi, OMRAN Group CEO Dr. Hashil bin Obaid Al Mahrouqi, and Club Med President Henri Giscard d’Estaing.

Located by the captivating Gulf of Oman, the Club Med Musandam is set to enhance Oman’s hospitality sector, symbolizing transformation, empowerment, and sustainable growth for the region and the country.

The project is a collaboration between Club Med and OMRAN Group, marking the first Club Med resort in the Gulf region. This resort aims to strengthen Oman’s hospitality sector and become a symbol of transformation and sustainable growth for the region and the country.

At the signing ceremony, Club Med President Henri Giscard d’Estaing highlighted the importance of this project, stating, “Club Med’s history and success are built on its pioneering approach and strong contributions to local development. The Club Med Musandam project is a significant milestone as our first presence in the Gulf countries.”

Oman’s Minister of Heritage and Tourism, Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrougi, emphasized the project’s significance, stating, “This partnership with Club Med aligns with Omran 2040 vision, aiming to attract 11 million tourists to Oman.”

Supported by Omani debt financiers and equity partners, the Club Med Musandam project is an investment exceeding $100 million under the initiative of the OMRAN Group. The construction, starting in 2026 and set to open in 2028, will employ approximately 1,000 workers at various stages. The project will create over 400 direct and 800 indirect jobs, revitalizing the local economy.

Sustainability at the Core

Club Med, known for its commitment to sustainability, plans to reflect this in the Musandam project by adhering to Green Globe standards. The resort will continue Club Med’s “Bye Bye Plastics” movement, reducing the use of plastic water bottles and single-use plastics in its resorts. Additionally, Club Med aims to reduce food waste across all its resorts by 2030.

Exclusive Collection in Nature’s Lap

Designed to embody Omani culture, the Club Med Musandam will be inspired by the region’s location, climate, and culture. As part of Club Med’s Exclusive Collection, the Musandam resort will offer a unique and luxurious lifestyle with 300 rooms.

The resort will feature family-friendly activities, sports for all ages, and tranquil private spaces, ensuring a complete holiday experience for all guests. Activities will include tennis, paddle tennis, beach tennis, archery, scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, and paddleboarding.

For those seeking wellness, the resort will offer a spa, fitness center, yoga school, and an adult-only Zen pool, providing a true sanctuary. Guests will also enjoy gourmet dining experiences, making them feel special.

“Norway of Arabia” and Unique Fjords

Situated on the northeastern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, the Club Med Musandam Exclusive Collection resort will offer a unique geography, culture, and history. Known as the “Norway of Arabia” due to its jagged coastline, Musandam is renowned for its stunning natural landscapes, historical structures, and marine life.

The resort’s location, just a 5-minute boat ride from Khasab and 2.5 hours from Dubai International Airport, makes it a desirable destination for both local and international travelers.
