flydubai Begins Direct Flights from Dubai to Basel

flydubai has officially launched its direct flight service from Dubai to Basel, marking a significant milestone as the first UAE carrier to connect with EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg.

This new four-times weekly service strengthens the carrier’s growing European network, offering passengers a direct link between Dubai and the culturally rich tri-border region encompassing Switzerland, France, and Germany.

The inaugural flight was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute upon arrival at EuroAirport, highlighting the importance of this new route. The service opens up new travel opportunities for both leisure and business travelers. With Basel now on its European roster, flydubai’s network in the region has expanded to 29 destinations, including popular cities like Milan, Budapest, and Prague.

Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, expressed enthusiasm about the new route: “At flydubai, we are committed to opening up underserved destinations and creating free flows of trade and tourism, and we are pleased to add Basel to our network in Europe. EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg serves Switzerland, France, and Germany, making it an important hub for travel, trade, and tourism in the tri-border region.”

A Gateway to Europe and Beyond

EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg is uniquely situated at the crossroads of three countries, providing travelers with easy access to the scenic landscapes and cultural attractions of Switzerland, the historical Alsace region in France, and Germany’s Baden-Württemberg area. Basel itself is celebrated as Switzerland’s cultural capital, known for its diverse museums, striking architecture, and vibrant arts scene.

The new route also benefits European travelers seeking convenient connections to popular holiday destinations across flydubai’s expansive network. “We look forward to welcoming more travelers from Europe to Dubai and beyond,” added Efendi. “Through Dubai’s aviation hub, passengers traveling from Basel can enjoy convenient connections to holiday destinations including Kenya, the Maldives, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.”

Flydubai will operate the Dubai-Basel route using its fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, ensuring a comfortable and modern travel experience.
