SAS and Air Europa have joined forces to strengthen connectivity between Scandinavia and the Iberian Peninsula.
This strategic codeshare partnership provides passengers with greater access to 12 popular destinations in Spain and Portugal while opening up SAS’ extensive Scandinavian network to Air Europa travelers.
Through this agreement, SAS passengers can now book Air Europa flights connecting Madrid-Barajas with Alicante, Barcelona, Vigo, Málaga, A Coruña, Bilbao, Palma de Mallorca, Gran Canaria, Tenerife Norte, Lisbon, and Oporto. In turn, Air Europa customers will benefit from access to Scandinavian destinations, including SAS’ new direct route between Madrid and Copenhagen launching on April 11, 2025. Other Scandinavian destinations such as Aarhus, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Oslo, Trondheim, Stavanger, and Bergen will also be accessible to Air Europa passengers.
The codeshare partnership, which was formalized at the FITUR International Tourism Fair in Madrid on January 23, 2025, underscores the growing collaboration within the SkyTeam alliance. Both airlines aim to offer seamless travel experiences backed by improved connectivity and high-quality service.
Paul Verhagen, Chief Commercial Officer at SAS, remarked, “This partnership with Air Europa grants our customers more travel options to the Iberian Peninsula. With our daily flights from Copenhagen to Madrid, we’re enhancing connectivity between Scandinavia and key destinations across Spain and beyond.”
Air Europa travelers will also gain access to Air Europa’s broader network through SAS, including destinations in North Africa, the Caribbean, and South America, such as Marrakech, Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, and Salvador de Bahia.
Imanol Pérez, Commercial Director at Air Europa, highlighted, “This agreement expands customer choice with 20 new routes in our joint offering. By codesharing, customers can enjoy simplified flight planning and consistent service quality within the SkyTeam alliance.”
The collaboration reflects both airlines’ commitment to strengthening their global reach while maintaining the highest standards of service. For travelers, this partnership translates to expanded travel opportunities, simplified itineraries, and better access to two vibrant regions of the world.
