Waldorf Astoria Osaka is officially open, marking the luxury brand’s long-awaited debut in Japan. The 252-room hotel introduces a refined blend of New York elegance and Japanese sophistication just in time for the Osaka-Kansai Expo and the peak cherry blossom season.
Located in the thriving Umekita District, the hotel offers sweeping skyline views from the top floors of the South Park Tower at GRAND GREEN OSAKA. Just steps from JR Osaka Station and surrounded by iconic cultural and culinary landmarks, Waldorf Astoria Osaka places travelers at the center of one of Japan’s most exciting urban landscapes. High-speed rail connections to Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe add to its appeal as a base for exploration.
A New Benchmark for Luxury in Osaka
Designed by André Fu, the hotel reimagines Waldorf Astoria’s signature residential style through an East-meets-West design philosophy. From the Art Deco inspirations of its interiors to the seamless fusion of Western comfort and Japanese minimalism, each of the 252 rooms and suites delivers panoramic views and timeless elegance. The top-tier accommodations include two 146-square-metre penthouses and a 193-square-metre Presidential Suite.
Waldorf Astoria Osaka’s opening is part of Hilton’s broader luxury expansion in Asia Pacific, where the brand aims to double its Waldorf Astoria portfolio within two years. According to Alan Watts, President, Asia Pacific, Hilton, the debut reflects Japan’s enduring status as one of the world’s most captivating destinations and underscores Hilton’s six-decade legacy in the country.
Takaaki Nitanai, President of ORIX Hotel Management Corporation, emphasized that the hotel is central to the Umekita 2nd Project, designed to revitalize Osaka and elevate the entire Kansai region. The opening also follows last year’s launch of Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda, further strengthening Hilton’s presence in the city.
Culinary Innovation in Japan’s Kitchen
With four distinct dining venues, Waldorf Astoria Osaka celebrates its culinary roots while embracing Osaka’s local flavors. Peacock Alley offers daytime elegance with artisanal pastries, afternoon tea, and sweeping city views, transforming into a cocktail lounge by night. Canes & Tales channels the glamour of the Jazz Age with tableside mixology and a curated menu from the Waldorf Astoria Bar Book.
At Jolie Brasserie, guests enjoy modern French cuisine with a Japanese twist, while Tsukimi elevates Japanese dining with sushi, teppanyaki, and seasonal kaiseki menus served in minimalist surroundings. Each venue pays tribute to Waldorf Astoria’s legacy of gastronomic excellence dating back to its 1893 origins in New York.
Wellness, Events, and Iconic Service
The property continues the brand’s century-old tradition of legendary hospitality. Each guest is assigned a dedicated Personal Concierge to anticipate every need—from arranging spa treatments and family activities to curating private cultural excursions across Japan. The hotel also offers a serene indoor pool, thermal wellness experiences, and tranquil views over Umekita Park.
With 33,000 square metres of event space, Waldorf Astoria Osaka is poised to host high-profile weddings, galas, and business gatherings. An intimate on-site chapel and a dedicated events team ensure every occasion is executed with discretion and grace.
As Osaka prepares to welcome millions of global visitors for the 2025 World Expo, Waldorf Astoria Osaka is set to become a defining symbol of luxury hospitality in Japan—blending cultural authenticity with timeless elegance, all in the heart of one of Asia’s most vibrant cities.
