ITA Airways and LOT Polish Airlines Launch Codeshare Agreement

ITA Airways and LOT Polish Airlines have signed a new codeshare agreement that expands travel options between Italy and Poland starting April 10, 2025. The deal is expected to make flights more seamless for passengers traveling between the two countries, especially for those connecting through Rome and Warsaw.

The agreement allows LOT Polish Airlines to place its “LO” flight code on 10 of ITA Airways’ domestic routes departing from Rome. These destinations include Bologna, Bari, Brindisi, Catania, Genoa, Florence, Naples, Palermo, Lamezia Terme, and Turin. As a result, travelers from Poland will have greater access to a wide range of cities across Italy with a single booking and check-in process.

At the same time, ITA Airways will add its “AZ” flight code on LOT-operated flights between Warsaw and Rome. This step will enable travelers from Italy to easily connect to LOT’s extensive route network via the Polish capital. These new codeshare services are now available for booking through both airlines’ official websites, reservation systems, and travel agencies.

Connecting Europe with Greater Flexibility

Through this partnership, both carriers aim to improve connectivity across Central and Southern Europe. The codeshare agreement gives business and leisure travelers more flexibility and convenience when flying between Italy and Poland, eliminating the need to book separate tickets or manage different carriers during the journey.

Joerg Eberhart, CEO and General Manager of ITA Airways, emphasized the strategic value of the agreement. He described it as an “additional significant step” in the airline’s growth plan, aimed at strengthening commercial ties between the two countries and offering Polish travelers access to the best of Italy’s culture and service. ITA Airways considers itself an ambassador of Made in Italy around the world, and this partnership enhances that mission.

Robert Ludera, Director of the LOT Polish Airlines Network Bureau, echoed this sentiment. He said the agreement supports LOT’s strategy of expanding its offer while raising the quality of service. For Polish passengers, the new arrangement simplifies travel to Italy’s most iconic cities, making cultural discovery and holiday planning easier than ever before. LOT also welcomes the opportunity to serve ITA’s passengers through its hub in Warsaw.

By offering smoother transfers and more route options, this cooperation will likely appeal to both frequent flyers and tourists. Italy and Poland have enjoyed close economic, cultural, and tourism connections, and this move helps solidify those links. The codeshare is expected to boost inbound tourism in Italy while giving Italians easier access to Central and Eastern Europe through LOT’s growing network.

LOT Polish Airlines currently operates a modern fleet including the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and offers long-haul service to key global destinations such as the United States, Canada, India, Japan, and South Korea. ITA Airways, partially owned by Deutsche Lufthansa AG and the Italian government, focuses on international connectivity, domestic routes, and sustainability in aviation.

With this codeshare now in effect, travelers can book once and fly smoothly across a connected European network. Whether it’s for business in Rome, a seaside escape in Naples, or exploring Warsaw’s rich history, the ITA–LOT partnership makes it easier than ever to get there.
