DHL has officially tapped into ANA’s new booking platform, marking a significant leap in digital logistics for Japan’s aviation industry. As of April 11, 2025, All Nippon Airways (ANA) became the first Japanese airline to integrate with CargoWise, a global platform streamlining air cargo bookings. The collaboration promises faster, more efficient service for freight forwarders and positions ANA at the forefront of cargo tech innovation in Asia.
Japan’s First Airline to Join CargoWise
Through this partnership with WiseTech Global, ANA’s new booking platform allows freight forwarders to search routes, compare fares, and book cargo space online 24/7. The launch, which began with logistics giant DHL Global Forwarding, is set to expand to additional partners in the coming months. It’s a move that mirrors shifting industry expectations: real-time booking, seamless system integration, and less reliance on legacy processes.
“Our integration with CargoWise enables seamless data transmission, creating an efficient and simplified booking experience for our major customers,” said Kenichi Wakiya, Executive Vice President of Cargo Marketing & Services at ANA and CEO of ANA Cargo. “We want forwarders to do business on our network using the systems they already trust.”
Why This Matters in a Global Context
Japan, the world’s fourth-largest economy, plays a pivotal role in the global movement of high-tech goods and consumer products. By connecting with CargoWise, ANA removes barriers for freight companies shipping to and from Japan, making international trade smoother and more predictable.
Scott McCorquodale, Head of Airline Connectivity at WiseTech Global, called the move a milestone. “This partnership helps meet the high demand for air cargo in and out of Japan. Freight forwarders now have direct access to ANA flight data without leaving CargoWise, improving both accuracy and efficiency across the global supply chain.”
DHL Leads the Way
DHL Global Forwarding is the first logistics provider to use the new platform, and the company is already seeing gains. “We can now plan, book, and manage shipments with ANA directly from within CargoWise,” said Max Sauberschwarz, Head of Global Air Freight at DHL Global Forwarding. “That direct data exchange makes our services faster and more convenient for customers.”
For DHL and others, the benefits go beyond speed. This digital pipeline reduces manual entry errors, minimizes miscommunication, and improves visibility across multiple steps of the shipping process—crucial in today’s just-in-time logistics world.
ANA’s Long-Term Digital Vision
This isn’t ANA’s first foray into digital transformation, but it is a standout. The airline, known for receiving SKYTRAX’s 5-Star rating for 12 consecutive years, continues to modernize its cargo division. The integration with CargoWise is part of a broader initiative to strengthen sales channels and align with the logistics industry’s digital evolution.
Founded in 2013, ANA Holdings is Japan’s largest airline group, operating 70 companies under three airline brands: ANA, Peach (a leading low-cost carrier), and the newly launched AirJapan, targeting international routes across Asia. With a legacy of service and a growing emphasis on sustainability and tech-forward solutions, ANA is redefining what it means to move cargo in the 21st century.
As global shipping becomes increasingly digitized, ANA’s new booking platform isn’t just a tech upgrade—it’s a signal that Japan’s aviation sector is ready to meet the demands of a fast-moving, globalized economy. And with DHL already onboard, the sky’s the limit.
