High-speed train crashes in Turkey, killing at least 9

A high-speed train has crashed near the Turkish capital Ankara, killing at least 9 people and leaving at least 47 injured.

The train was en route to Konya in central Turkey.

Ankara governor Vasip Sahin hold a press conference at the site of the crash, Sahin said, the crash took place at around 6.30 a.m. Thursday local time.

The high-speed train crashed into a pilot engine traveling along the same rails. After the crash a pedestrian overpass also collapsed onto some of the train cars in Ankara’s Marsandiz station.
