Eurowings launches the first direct flights between Munich and Orlando

Travelers from Orlando have an easy access to beer lovers’ favourite festival; Octoberfest. Eurowings, an airline of the Lufthansa Group, now connects the home of Oktoberfest, Munich, Germany with Orlando.

Starting in April of 2020 you will be able to travel to Bavaria with three times-a-week service by Eurowings, an airline of the Lufthansa Group. Benefitting from Lufthansa’s vast feeder network of the Munich hub, the new service offers new connections to hundreds of destinations across four continents, one stop away from Orlando.

“With this new Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday service, you will be able to travel from Central Florida to the heart of Bavaria,” says Phil Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “This single route is expected to generate in excess of $20 million annually for the Central Florida economy and is another example of our commitment to exploring and encouraging the opening of new and exciting international markets for local business and leisure travelers in Central Florida.”

“Our service at Orlando Airport has been a success story for the Lufthansa Group since launching flights 12 years ago. Now with the new Eurowings service to Munich, Europe’s only 5 Star Airport, we are able to offer more connections to destinations in Europe, the Middle East Africa and Asia to our customers in Central Florida. At the same time we continue to support the thriving Orlando tourism industry, popular with leisure travelers from across the Lufthansa Group network,” said Frank Naeve Vice President of Sales, The Americas, Lufthansa Group.

In addition to the world famous Oktoberfest, Munich is home to other popular German tourist attractions including the Residenz Royal Palace, the Bavarian State Opera and the BMW World complex. The financially strong and rapidly growing city of Munich also offers an excellent business environment and is one of the leading economic regions in Europe with long standing links to the Orlando area. The Lufthansa Group combines the best of three worlds: Lufthansa’s commercial as well as operational expertise, Eurowings’ tourism know-how and the world-renowned feeder system of the Lufthansa Munich Hub in the center of Europe. The new MCO-MUC flight can be booked on both Eurowings.com and Lufthansa.com and through all  further booking channels and outlets starting today.

Munich is Orlando’s 13th European destination, and second in Germany, making travel easier for the estimated 70,000 Germans who travel to Central Florida annually. The route will be operated with an Airbus A330-200 with 270 seats; 22 in business, 17 in premium economy and 231 in economy.
