Kobe Airport is an airport on an artificial island just off the coast of Kobe. Opened on February 16, 2006, it primarily handles domestic flights.
Initially, some international charter flights will start in 2025 to coincide with the World Expo taking place in Osaka that year, with more international flights being introduced in the lead-up to 2030.
While routes are yet to be confirmed, Kobe Airports’ runway has the capacity to serve midsize planes to and from South-East and East Asia. Again, no official numbers have been announced, but Kobe Airport could expect up to 40 international arrivals and departures per day.
With Kansai International Airport 30 minutes from Kobe, international access to Kobe is quick and hassle-free. However, with the addition of direct international flights into and out of the city, delegates attending meetings at the Kobe Convention Center will be able to reach the center in just 8 minutes, making it the most accessible convention center in Japan.
Moreover, with an 18-minute transfer from the airport to the city and a Shinkansen station that can take you almost anywhere in the country, Kobe is one of Japan’s most accessible cities.
