Embark on a nighttime adventure across four iconic European capitals with the new Midnight Express route by European Sleeper.
Commenced on March 26, 2024, this enchanting night train connects Brussels to Prague, facilitating seamless travel between Belgium and the Czech Republic three times a week.
The 15-hour journey weaves through scenic stops including Dresden, Bad Schandau, Děčín, Ústí nad Labem, culminating in the magical city of Prague, with easy connections from Paris and London via Brussels.
Just ten months after initiating a direct route from Brussels to Berlin, European Sleeper has now extended this line to Prague. The inaugural journey from Brussels took off on March 25, 2024, with the service scheduled to run three times weekly.
Travelers can now enjoy a seamless overnight journey starting from 49 euros for a seat and 79 euros for a sleeper compartment.
Eco-Friendly and Economical Travel
The night train presents a green alternative to air travel, emitting 7-10 times fewer emissions.
It transforms lengthy trips into a restful night’s journey, letting passengers save on hotel costs and wake up refreshed and ready to explore their destination right from the city center.
Supporting Regional Tourism and Sustainability
“The history of Czech rail transport offers vast potential for future tourism and sustainability,” noted František Reismüller, Director of the Czech Tourism Centre – CzechTourism.
He highlighted the convenience for cyclists and hikers with the train stopping in Děčín and Ústí nad Labem, gateways to scenic trails in Bohemian Switzerland.
Promoting Czechia to International Markets
During the inaugural ride, representatives from Dutch and Belgian media were introduced to alternative tourist spots like Pardubice and Mělník, apart from Prague.
Petra Palečková of CzechTourism Benelux shared plans for promoting active holidays in the Ústí nad Labem region to Dutch and Belgian tourists, known for their preference for cycling vacations.
Increasing Appeal Among European Tourists
The new route is timely as tourists from the Netherlands and Belgium increasingly choose Czechia for holidays, with a notable preference for Prague.
This trend is boosted by diverse accommodation options and the popularity of Prague as a premier urban destination.
European Sleeper isn’t just any train company. It started in the Netherlands as a cooperative with a cool goal: to bring back night trains. A bunch of small investors believed in the idea and kicked things off with half a million euros.
Later on, they raised even more money—2 million euros from selling shares—and their group of supporters grew to 3,500 members.
These members aren’t just investors; they’re active participants who really care about night trains.
Looking ahead, European Sleeper has big plans to start a new train line that will connect Amsterdam, Brussels, and Barcelona.
