Matka Nordic Travel Fair to be Organized in January 2022

The Matka Nordic Travel Fair 2021 which could not take place this year will be organized 19 – 23 January 2022. Greece, the partner country for 2021, continues to be the partner country in 2022.

Cooperation will be continued at the mutual wish of the Greek National Tourism Organisation and the Matka Nordic Travel Fair, and in particular at the request of the public following the Matka Fair.

Greece has been one of the most popular destinations for Finns for many years. According to a study by the Association of Finnish Travel Agents, AFTA, the largest number of holiday trips purchased prior to the pandemic in 2019 was to Greece.

”We are pleased that our cooperation continues. A wider presentation of Greek tourism opportunities has been much hoped for and expected. Greece will certainly be the destination of many Finns as soon as travel dreams dammed by the pandemic can finally be realized”, Lumia Ankkuri, Business Manager of Matka Nordic Travel Fair rejoices.

Greece charms with both its familiarity and surprises

Greece will be in the spotlight at next January’s fair. With the status of the partner country, the destination is visible both at the stands through many Greek actors and in the program of the event. Greece promises to surprise visitors by introducing new sides and activities.

” We are proud that Greece will be a partner of the Nordic Travel Fair in January 2022. Finland and the other Nordic countries are important for Greek tourism, and we want more and more tourists to get to know our destinations. Safety, authenticity and the strong identity of our destinations are important reasons why millions of tourists will continue to visit Greece,” says Dimitris Fragakis, Secretary General of the Greek National Tourism Organisation.

The Nordic Travel Fair showcases the rich history of Greece from ancient sites to monasteries and traditional Greek villages. The country’s diverse nature also comes to the fore with its stunning natural sites and activities, not forgetting Greek food culture. In addition to the various destinations and activities, the fair visitor will learn how a tourist can visit Greece as responsibly as possible so that the nature of the destinations and the communities sustain the tourist amounts.
