Mount Ruang Eruption in Indonesia

Indonesia’s Mount Ruang Eruption Halts Airport Operations

Mount Ruang in Indonesia’s North Sulawesi province has erupted again, leading authorities to issue a high-level alert in the region.

The Indonesian Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) has reported that the volcano is spewing lava and ash, and the alert level has been raised from 3 to 4.

Following the eruption, all operations at Sam Ratulangi International Airport in the province have been suspended. It has been announced that the airport will remain closed until noon tomorrow.

Ruang is just one of about 130 active volcanoes in Indonesia, with an increase in seismic activity sparking fears that other craters could be disturbed.

Additionally, thousands of people had been evacuated from their homes following an eruption at the volcano two weeks prior. This recent activity has intensified concerns about further disruptions and safety in the area.
